Mr Chris Matthews

Mr Chris Matthews

Director / Transport Consultant

I'm Chris Matthews, a Director of RHN Consultancy Limited. I studied Transport Management at Swansea University to degree level. I worked for a couple of haulage companies in the Transport office before moving to DVSA in 2008. I assumed the post of Traffic Examiner where part of my role was to authorise tachograph centres and a Bus Operator Account Manager. I stayed with DVSA until 2022 when I joined RHN Consultancy Ltd. I am a Commissioned Officer in the Royal Logistic Corp of the Army Reserve which I have been doing since 1996.

I am happily married to Jane and have a daughter Emily. In my spare time I enjoy running, cycling and walking.

I am 58 years old and have dedicated my career to the Logistics and Transport Industry. I started as a vehicle technician in 1983, then became an HGV driver in 1985, earning my Class 1 license and driving articulated vehicles across the UK and Europe until 1996. I have since moved into transport management, obtaining various qualifications including NEBOSH and an Advanced Diploma from Swansea University. Since 2016, I have worked as an Expert Witness on matters such as operator licensing and health and safety, and I founded RHN Consultancy Ltd in 2019.

Outside of work, I enjoy collecting and working on motorcycles and love exploring on two wheels. I am a happily married father of two, with my wife managing our analysis department.

Director / Analysis Manager

After dedicating a 20-year career working as a Residential Child Care Officer working with children and young people with disabilities in 2019, I embraced a new challenge within a different industry – the Transport Industry and with my husband Rick, RHN Consultancy was founded. I quickly learned about industry rules and regulations and in particular EU Driver’s Hours and Working Time Directive which enabled me to fulfil my role as the Analysis Manager.

I my spare time I play rounders and am an active member of ‘Rounderbend’ in Llanelli, Dreamcatchers in Swansea League, and 50 Shades of Play 50+ in Llandarcy and to relax I enjoy being creative by sewing.

Mr Richard Cussons

Mr Richard Cussons

Transport Consultant / Trainer

I have been a resident of this planet for 58 years and began my career in the transport and logistics sector as a mechanic.

I completed an apprenticeship with day release, which led to me obtaining a Higher National Diploma (HND). I am still a registered IRT engineer. Since then, I have also worked in the driver training industry, focusing on all types of vehicles and serving as an RTITB Master Driver instructor and examiner. This role provided an entry into the world of operator licensing, where I initially became a transport manager and eventually an instructor for both LGV and PSV . From there, my responsibilities expanded into classroom training for ADR and establishing operators as DCPC centres while writing the associated courses. Today, I use my life experience and knowledge to support operators with their compliance and training needs. I have been happily married (as I have been informed by my wife) and enjoy an active social life.
